Ant Brooks

“Ant showed us with his remix why he is one of the freshest producers in recent times and destined for big things” Toolroom Records

Ant Brooks is a prime example of why hard work, dedication and an undeniable talent are key to progressing in the EDM scene. Since bursting on to the radar three years ago where Pete Tong kick started Ant’s support with his debut release, ‘Shuffle’, Ant Brooks made an immediate impact on the global house stage, and has quickly become one of house music’s most desired suppliers of smooth, sexy and quality house music.

Since, the Coventry based artists impeccable introduction continued through delivering more of his effortlessly sublime productions such as ‘Size, ‘Filtered’ ‘El Surco’ and the ‘Wired’ E.P, releases that found themselves signed to numerous labels like CR2, Mark Knights Toolroom Records, Michael Woods’ Diffused Music imprint, Monique Music, 303 Lovers and more reputable labels. With each release receiving nationwide radio support and completing their journey through being featured on numerous compilations including Steve Angelo's Size Matters, Toolroom Ibiza and more. A lifelong lover of all things music, Ant Brooks discovery of Electronic sounds came in the form of mixtapes of Carl Cox and Ratpack sets in the early 90’s, it was through these that Brooks’ love and passion for dance transpired, and where the clarity to what his dream career was, was born. Brooks began to DJ Hard House with Beltdrive turntables and a healthy stack of vinyl before moving on to the industry standard Technic 1210 direct drive turntables where he learned the building blocks that resulted in him becoming the skilled DJ he is today. He knew that creating his own music and designing his own signature sound was the key to success, so locking himself away from the world he self taught how to produce which was the next logical step in Ant Brooks’ path to international success. Considering Ant only started producing four years ago, his rise through the ranks is far from over. Ant Brooks is one of few breakthrough producers whose relentless production consistency has been matched by a sustained level of quality with productions and remixes spanning across House, Tech House all the way through to Techno lending his talent to artists such as Michael Woods, Axwell, Groove Armada and Robbie Rivera’s Juicy music imprint to rework their pieces with Ant Brooks’ signature sound, one that is evident in every production that leaves his studio. Ant’s calendar is littered with performances across the globe in some of the most iconic venues including Ministry of Sound, Space, Pacha and Mint Club where Ant’s exceptional craft in the studio is rounded off superbly by a finely tuned DJ performance. Scattered with original tracks, remixes, re-edits and bootlegs, he brings them together to create a Techno-infused set, enveloped in the groovyness that defines Ant Brooks.

The future is ever evolving for this artist, and we can only anticipate bigger and better from a producer whose discography already boasts championed releases. This is not only an example of Ant Brooks’ extraordinary pace of progression, but a fact that cries out that Ant Brooks is undoubtedly one of House music’s future stars. “Ant is one of the industry’s freshest producers; he is going to be a BIG name!” Michael Woods

Axel Karakasis

Axel Karakasis

Axel Karakasis is the most recognisable Greek name in the Techno scene. His career is marked by a number of classic themes and a series of appearances that have established him as an international DJ.

The rise to his present status did not happen overnight, but goes back to the 80s and the 90s, when Techno made its first appearance. Fascinated by this new wave, Axel’s courtship with electronic music saw a very different light… By the late 90s, he was already known through various DJ residencies in Athens, as well as through his regular events with his team “Bubbles” –to be remembered to this date by many! This was when the techno wiz-kid earned his place among the top Greek DJs and appeared in numerous events in the biggest clubs of the Greek capital! He soon became the most wanted Greek Techno DJ, playing regularly in the biggest venues in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Crete and all over his native Greece.

Being a restless spirit led Axel to new avenues in music production. He always wanted to play unique music in his sets. That’s what drove him to get into the studio and begin his own productions. In 2000, he had his first release on Pornographic Recordings and this was only the beginning, as a string of classic releases followed in the likes of MB Elektronics, Primate, Intec Records, etc. to establish himself in a genre he referred to as “Groovy Techno”! With his very own mark on discography, Axel’s international career took off. Confirming his status as the most sought after Greek Techno DJ of his time, Axel headlines events in some of the best clubs in the world, such as the Rex Club (Paris), Womb (Tokyo), Turnmills (London), tours regularly countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Holland and Malta, to name a few, and has appeared in top festivals like Awakenings (Netherlands) Rabac Festival (Croatia), Apokalypsa (Czech Republic), etc.: he keeps exciting crowds all over the world!

At present, Axel releases his music in top record labels, like Kombination Research, 1605, Respekt Recordings and others, whereas his tracks have featured in well known compilations and mix CDs, such as Extreme Euphoria (Ministry of Sound), Cream Ibiza, I Love Techno, and many many more. However, his work wouldn’t be complete without his own imprint! In his first venture, he was the co-founder of Omega Audio Recordings, which received rave reviews and support by top DJs world-wide, as well as being a platform for new talents to see the spotlight. In September 2007, Axel decided to channel all his energy into his very own brainchild, Remain Records, which is gradually transforming into a brand encompassing both vinyl (Remain Records) and digital (Remain Records and Remain Limited) releases by Axel, The Advent and Industrialyzer, Marco Bailey and Tom Hades, APaul, as well as newer talent.

Axel’s strong reputation is based on his consistency towards the genre that established him. Always faithful to techno, Axel Karakasis delivers all-fresh, brand new sounds that evolve. Having earned strong support by clubbers and his peers worldwide, Axel keeps challenging the clubland with his releases and his full of energy DJ sets.

Christian Cambas

Christian Cambas

Scene-defying player. The original sinner. Christian Cambas is one of the few things that Greece can still be proud to flaunt to the outside world. From being a Top100 DJ when it actually mattered, to topping Beatport charts, Christian has carved his own path through countless peaks and troughs of this industry. When name dropped now, he is mostly associated with the groundbreaking 1605 label, led by Slovenian Techno overlord Umek. It's not all about maintaining that studio tan though. From the days of the San Francisco Love Parade to tours of the Americas and from countless WMC's to European sweatboxes, Christian has grown wings of steel and the miles keep clocking. His discography reads like a who's-who of trendy (sic) labels. From Toolroom and Great Stuff, to his debut on Bedrock at a year that time forgot, it is quality that's synonymous with his name and why he doesn't pump out cookie-cutter tracks by the minute. Also working behind the shadowy scenes, Christian is also involved in Press & Play which also acts as home to his own label Sabotage.

G.PAL

Swift / Evolution

G.PAL

George Pallikaris originally hails from Thessaloniki, one of the largest cities in northern Greece. George was first introduced to music at a very young age. By the age of 4 he was already training to play the piano. Although he was studying the likes of Jean Michelle Jarre and Vangelis he was also composing music on his first synthesizer. Once George reached his teen years, he got very involved with early dance music through buying house and techno records and playing them for his friends. After a few years of developing his skills composing and producing tracks, G. Pal decided to move to New York City so that he could pursue a degree in music technology at NYU. This educational experience, combined with his own interest in studio gear, hardware and software puts George way ahead of your average dance music producer. While attending NYU, George started shopping his tracks around the end of 1997. About a year later, a decent amount of respectable labels were knocking on his door. Soon after his first commercial record release, a double pack on the UK’s prestigious Low Pressings label, he started preparing material for labels. On a cold night in November at Mike Bryant’s Friday night party, G.Pal brought a demo down for Plastic City A+R Rick Salzer. After some small discussions, both parties agreed that G. Pal should join the UCMG NY artist roster. Since then he released many singles for Plastic City and the critically acclaimed album ‘Life by G.Pal’.

George had to leave New York City after six years of studying at NYU, to join the Greek military force for two years. At that time Swift recordings was founded as a joint effort by him and UCMGNY as an outlet for his club-minded tribal and progressive productions. Since its inception, Swift was steadily gained momentum and created quite a buzz within the dance music community.

George after completed his military service his focus was on building Swift into the label he has envisioned all along. Swift records would no longer be a part of UCMGNY, as George decided to run the label by himself from his own country Greece. Swift was then globally distributed by Intergroove UK. Concerning his productions and remixes, George started to work at his studio full time again. Remixes and productions for labels such as Yoshitoshi, Shinichi, Bedrock, Ovum, Low Pressings & many more were also in George’s agenda. With sales steadily increasing and licenses coming in from Deep Dish and Steve Lawler for their Global Underground mix albums as well as DJ mixes from David Duriez, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Oscar G. for the Space club compilation, Tim Fielding for JDJ, Hardy Heller, Pascal Feos, and Steve Bug to name just a few, Swift was booming until 2005.

But for 2006 life had different plans for George! He got married and had a beautiful daughter. Family life was the new big thing for George. Hence Swift was put on hold for a while! In January 2013 a new era begins for Swift Records. George is now working hard to relaunch the label with a new sound adjusted to today’s hottest trends! Expect to listen to quality deep tech, techno and house sounds! The label will be distributed exclusively by Baseware (Beatport). A new radio show called “Swift Sessions” will also be launched in Frisky Radio by February 2013.

Rena

Evolution / We Play...

Rena

It is rare nowadays, in an increasingly cynical and competitive scene, for young and upcoming DJ's to get much recognition or opportunity to showcase their talents. In an industry where affiliation and endorsement from more established artists is key and where tastes and attention spans grow more fickle by the day it seems increasingly difficult for budding artists to break new ground.

Rena Bak has overcome these preconceptions and transcended a heavily male dominated arena by sticking to a strict work ethic and a healthy and imaginative approach to her music. A relative newcomer to DJing but with a lengthy and enthusiastic exposure to electronic house music, she brings a fresh, innovative and contagious brew of energy to her performances!

Concentrating on gigging around her native Greece, she has steadily built herself a loyal fan base and developed her technical and programming skills. Having paid her dues and worked her way up from a consistent, dependable warm-up DJ she has effortlessly made the transition to peak time performer and crowd pleaser.

Adding another bow to her resume, 2011 has seen her make her first forays into the studio, working on a few original productions.

While the term "electronic house music" is an apt description of her musical directions, Rena's sets can encompass everything from the deepest house to the funkiest, raunchiest techno-always blended and mixed with precision and soul!

“Spektre have been one of the most consistent and solid production outfits in recent memory and I, for one, have become a huge fan and supporter of their sound. Whether they are producing mad, peak time bombs, or setting dancefloors on fire with their awesome live sets, these guys are definitely ones to watch and a bright shining light for the shape and sound of techno to come!” - UMEK “If there was a checklist for success, Spektre would have crossed off everything by now. Played gigs all over Europe – done, produced lots of strong releases & remixes – done 10 so far this year to be precise, topped the Beatport sales chart – done, got support from all the big techno guys, Sven Vath, Dubfire, Stephen Bodzin & Laurent Garnier – done, won the respect of their peers – done” - Mixmag

“Spektre's productions consist of solid techno that really remembers the rave. Music that is cool but also fun and highly danceable. These guys are just going to get bigger” - James Zabiela

Tom Hades

Rhythm Converted / 1605 / MB Elektronics

Tom Hades

Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242 ... At the age of 15 he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW. Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup.

During the same period, his old school friend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co release. And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ... In the same year as I Love Techno Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world.

His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ... In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Drumcode, Bedrock, Tronic, Excentric Musik, 1605, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert(ed), Lupp, ... In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff. After a long break of releasing Tom restarted the label again in 2010. Many big artists already signed to the label so loads & loads to come in the future !!

Guys like Virgil Enzinger, Submerge, Alan Fitzpatrick, The Advent & Industrialyzer, Brian Sanhaji as well as Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. End 2004, Marco & Tom released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stir all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One where they literally "blew the place to kingdom come"! In the year 2009 E=mc2 was released as a second album on MB Elektronics.

Recognized world widely by the big players in the scene the album surely proofed the quality of the release.

His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics, Rhythm Convert(ed), Bedrock and Drumcode are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes: intelligenter way of drum programming with flavors of techno, minimal and tekhouse. Nowadays, Tom can be booked as a dj or a live-set performance. You can expect dj-sets with dedication and filled with energy, as known from his live-sets, to give his fans the pleasure of clubbing !

In the means of productions, future releases will certainly be done, so keep your eyes open on some new productions, because Tom will certainly surprise lots of people!!!

Collectiva Launched

As 2013 sheepishly rears its head, we here at Collectiva have been tightening the nuts and bolts of our operations in order to bring you the finest in sonic artillery and initiate our relaunch with a bang.

Right of the bat we have two new additions to the roster, with the mighty Filterheadz and the groove dons Amo & Navas joining the squadron. That being said, the squadron has been ramming the Tech House and Techno Beatport Top 10 charts over the years, with no signs of letting up.

Covering all bases when it comes to the sound which we have collectively (no pun intended) been involved in for more than 10 years, it's time to deploy our troops in serious style.
