Ant Brooks

“Ant showed us with his remix why he is one of the freshest producers in recent times and destined for big things” Toolroom Records

Ant Brooks is a prime example of why hard work, dedication and an undeniable talent are key to progressing in the EDM scene. Since bursting on to the radar three years ago where Pete Tong kick started Ant’s support with his debut release, ‘Shuffle’, Ant Brooks made an immediate impact on the global house stage, and has quickly become one of house music’s most desired suppliers of smooth, sexy and quality house music.

Since, the Coventry based artists impeccable introduction continued through delivering more of his effortlessly sublime productions such as ‘Size, ‘Filtered’ ‘El Surco’ and the ‘Wired’ E.P, releases that found themselves signed to numerous labels like CR2, Mark Knights Toolroom Records, Michael Woods’ Diffused Music imprint, Monique Music, 303 Lovers and more reputable labels. With each release receiving nationwide radio support and completing their journey through being featured on numerous compilations including Steve Angelo's Size Matters, Toolroom Ibiza and more. A lifelong lover of all things music, Ant Brooks discovery of Electronic sounds came in the form of mixtapes of Carl Cox and Ratpack sets in the early 90’s, it was through these that Brooks’ love and passion for dance transpired, and where the clarity to what his dream career was, was born. Brooks began to DJ Hard House with Beltdrive turntables and a healthy stack of vinyl before moving on to the industry standard Technic 1210 direct drive turntables where he learned the building blocks that resulted in him becoming the skilled DJ he is today. He knew that creating his own music and designing his own signature sound was the key to success, so locking himself away from the world he self taught how to produce which was the next logical step in Ant Brooks’ path to international success. Considering Ant only started producing four years ago, his rise through the ranks is far from over. Ant Brooks is one of few breakthrough producers whose relentless production consistency has been matched by a sustained level of quality with productions and remixes spanning across House, Tech House all the way through to Techno lending his talent to artists such as Michael Woods, Axwell, Groove Armada and Robbie Rivera’s Juicy music imprint to rework their pieces with Ant Brooks’ signature sound, one that is evident in every production that leaves his studio. Ant’s calendar is littered with performances across the globe in some of the most iconic venues including Ministry of Sound, Space, Pacha and Mint Club where Ant’s exceptional craft in the studio is rounded off superbly by a finely tuned DJ performance. Scattered with original tracks, remixes, re-edits and bootlegs, he brings them together to create a Techno-infused set, enveloped in the groovyness that defines Ant Brooks.

The future is ever evolving for this artist, and we can only anticipate bigger and better from a producer whose discography already boasts championed releases. This is not only an example of Ant Brooks’ extraordinary pace of progression, but a fact that cries out that Ant Brooks is undoubtedly one of House music’s future stars. “Ant is one of the industry’s freshest producers; he is going to be a BIG name!” Michael Woods

Axel Karakasis

Axel Karakasis is the most recognisable Greek name in the Techno scene. His career is marked by a number of classic themes and a series of appearances that have established him as an international DJ.

The rise to his present status did not happen overnight, but goes back to the 80s and the 90s, when Techno made its first appearance. Fascinated by this new wave, Axel’s courtship with electronic music saw a very different light… By the late 90s, he was already known through various DJ residencies in Athens, as well as through his regular events with his team “Bubbles” –to be remembered to this date by many! This was when the techno wiz-kid earned his place among the top Greek DJs and appeared in numerous events in the biggest clubs of the Greek capital! He soon became the most wanted Greek Techno DJ, playing regularly in the biggest venues in Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Crete and all over his native Greece.

Being a restless spirit led Axel to new avenues in music production. He always wanted to play unique music in his sets. That’s what drove him to get into the studio and begin his own productions. In 2000, he had his first release on Pornographic Recordings and this was only the beginning, as a string of classic releases followed in the likes of MB Elektronics, Primate, Intec Records, etc. to establish himself in a genre he referred to as “Groovy Techno”! With his very own mark on discography, Axel’s international career took off. Confirming his status as the most sought after Greek Techno DJ of his time, Axel headlines events in some of the best clubs in the world, such as the Rex Club (Paris), Womb (Tokyo), Turnmills (London), tours regularly countries like Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Holland and Malta, to name a few, and has appeared in top festivals like Awakenings (Netherlands) Rabac Festival (Croatia), Apokalypsa (Czech Republic), etc.: he keeps exciting crowds all over the world!

At present, Axel releases his music in top record labels, like Kombination Research, 1605, Respekt Recordings and others, whereas his tracks have featured in well known compilations and mix CDs, such as Extreme Euphoria (Ministry of Sound), Cream Ibiza, I Love Techno, and many many more. However, his work wouldn’t be complete without his own imprint! In his first venture, he was the co-founder of Omega Audio Recordings, which received rave reviews and support by top DJs world-wide, as well as being a platform for new talents to see the spotlight. In September 2007, Axel decided to channel all his energy into his very own brainchild, Remain Records, which is gradually transforming into a brand encompassing both vinyl (Remain Records) and digital (Remain Records and Remain Limited) releases by Axel, The Advent and Industrialyzer, Marco Bailey and Tom Hades, APaul, as well as newer talent.

Axel’s strong reputation is based on his consistency towards the genre that established him. Always faithful to techno, Axel Karakasis delivers all-fresh, brand new sounds that evolve. Having earned strong support by clubbers and his peers worldwide, Axel keeps challenging the clubland with his releases and his full of energy DJ sets.

As Guardner Marcus produced several very successful albums and created music videos with this music for german tv broadcasters. Broombeck is a solo project founded 2008 by Marcus Schmahl, a true musician who is working as a composer, sound designer and producer since 1992 and is the driving force behind music projects of different genres such as hip hop, downbeat, jazz, lounge, house, techno, electronica, electro and drum'n'bass.

As Broombeck he has concentrated on Electronic Dance Music and released his successful tracks on influential labels like Mistakes Music, MBF, Opossum Rec. and Terminal M. "The Clapper" one of his most successful track so far and "Mono Turn" that topped the charts more than 6 weeks in Sept./Oct. 2008 and reached # 8 at the 2008 sales charts, followed by a re-entry into the Top 10 in Jan. 2009, are played and found in nearly every playlist of international DJ icons like Richie Hawtin, Deadmau5, Axwell, Carl Cox, Joachim Garraud, Dubfire/Deep Dish, Sébastien Léger, Monika Kruse, Karotte, Ricardo Villalobos, Steve Lawler, Funkagenda, Marco Carola, Bodzin, Loco Dice, Umek and many many more. It is not easy to describe the sound of Broombeck, or even to put it into one genre. It is influenced by his background of different styles of music, combined with percussive grooves, deep bass lines, huge breakdowns and a lot of experimental sounds - it is like a composition of various music genres that are combined to create a new track. In 2009 Marcus started to introduce Broombeck live at selected clubs like Cocoon in Frankfurt or Berghain in Berlin. His deep understanding of music, let him create an atmosphere and Live act that Sébastien Léger commented with the words: “Broombeck's live shows are incredible. Proper techno.” (DJ Mag),

Christian Cambas

Scene-defying player. The original sinner. Christian Cambas is one of the few things that Greece can still be proud to flaunt to the outside world. From being a Top100 DJ when it actually mattered, to topping Beatport charts, Christian has carved his own path through countless peaks and troughs of this industry. When name dropped now, he is mostly associated with the groundbreaking 1605 label, led by Slovenian Techno overlord Umek. It's not all about maintaining that studio tan though. From the days of the San Francisco Love Parade to tours of the Americas and from countless WMC's to European sweatboxes, Christian has grown wings of steel and the miles keep clocking. His discography reads like a who's-who of trendy (sic) labels. From Toolroom and Great Stuff, to his debut on Bedrock at a year that time forgot, it is quality that's synonymous with his name and why he doesn't pump out cookie-cutter tracks by the minute. Also working behind the shadowy scenes, Christian is also involved in Press & Play which also acts as home to his own label Sabotage.

Dave Vega

Dave Vega

Dave Vega started DJing in the late 90s in Karlsruhe in the south of Germany. It was here that Vega and friends organized illegal techno parties at secret outdoor locations with soundsystems so loud that people in other villages kilometers away could feel the bass. People would come from all over to party and would stay all day and all night. Inevitably these parties always led to fracases with the police.

After some years organising parties Dave Vega was bitten by the music bug and finally made the step from the dancefloor to the other side of the dj booth. In 2000 he moved to Frankfurt and began work as a music journalist. A residency in the famous Robert Johnson club soon followed and Dave started to play all over the world. Over the years he has played countless gigs in clubs like Berlin's Panorama Bar, Harry Klein and Rote Sonne in Munich, Rex Club in Paris, Nitza Club in Barcelona, Sugar Factory in Amsterdam, Space in Ibiza, and lately even a boat party in Honolulu, to list a few...

In 2007 Vega finally made the move to Berlin. Fueled by the energy of the city and a decade of DJing, he started producing his own music. Dave released his first EP in March 2011 on the Berlin based label, Exone. His second EP was released on the Canadian label Thoughtless Music in May 2011, followed by another EP on Exone in the beginning of 2012. After that he released a bunch of remixes on different labels. His roots have always been somewhere between House and Techno - that is what he plays and and still drives him after almost 15 years of electronic music experience.

Filterheadz are best known for their smash techno hits Sunshine & Yimanya as well as their highly energetic DJ performances.

It all started somewhere in the 80’s when brothers Bert & Maarten Wilmaers picked up their first musical instruments. Bert on guitar & Maarten on drums. Influenced by The Police, U2 & Simple Minds theytook their first steps on the way to Rock ‘n Roll stardom....

Well not exactly. After a decade of hammering away in rehearsal rooms and local stages their dream to become rockstars took a surprising twist. Almost by accident they discovered the groovy rhythms of US House Music, influenced by Roger Sanchez, Masters At Work & DavidMorales the boys started experimenting with loops and disco samples.Their very first US style house tracks saw the light.

Armed with those tracks, the boys approached Belgian record company Headroom Music who saw the potential and took them under their wings. After a few releases under several monikers, they decided to go with ‘Filterheadz’, with the idea of releasing some more ‘Filter Disco’ records…things turned out slightly different.

Two things happened almost simultaneously. First there was their remix of Minimalistix 'Struggle for Pleasure' that turned out to be an instant classic in the progressive house scene. Prolific labels like Hooj Choons, Platipus, Bedrock, Yoshitoshi and Renaissance stood in line to call upon their remix skills.

The second, and most important thing: They discovered Techno. Together with Belgian DJ Tomaz they embarked on a Techno Journey that would eventually lead them to Carl Cox’ Intec where they released their all time classic “Sunshine”. Two years later they would take their signature sound even further and release “Yimanya”, another big hit.

In the mean time extensive tours took Filterheadz to every corner of the globe and placed them high on the bill of events like I love Techno, Dance Valley & Tomorrowland and headlining clubs like Zouk, Womb, Ministry of Sound, Fabrik (Madrid) and so on.

Their remix engine kept running full steam: Green Velvet ‘La La Land’, Eddie Amador ‘House Music’, Delirium ‘Silence’, Faithless ‘I want more’ and Eric Prydz ‘Call on me’ just to name a few. Further releases like Cartagena & Endless Summer showcased their unique blend of techno beats and melodies.

The balance started to shift, less Techno & more melodic. Although tracks like “Day at the beach” & “Everything explained” on Sander Van Doorn’s label proved to be successful, clearly something was missing...

Looking back at their history and inspired by their heroes Marco Bailey & Carl Cox they decided it was time for a change. The Phoenix rises from the ashes. 2012 not only marks the 10th anniversary of Sunshine and a release of a smashing remix package on 1605. It also marks the return to techno. With a string of new releases

Filterheadz are once again ready to rock dance floors all over the world.

Swift / Evolution

George Pallikaris originally hails from Thessaloniki, one of the largest cities in northern Greece. George was first introduced to music at a very young age. By the age of 4 he was already training to play the piano. Although he was studying the likes of Jean Michelle Jarre and Vangelis he was also composing music on his first synthesizer. Once George reached his teen years, he got very involved with early dance music through buying house and techno records and playing them for his friends. After a few years of developing his skills composing and producing tracks, G. Pal decided to move to New York City so that he could pursue a degree in music technology at NYU. This educational experience, combined with his own interest in studio gear, hardware and software puts George way ahead of your average dance music producer. While attending NYU, George started shopping his tracks around the end of 1997. About a year later, a decent amount of respectable labels were knocking on his door. Soon after his first commercial record release, a double pack on the UK’s prestigious Low Pressings label, he started preparing material for labels. On a cold night in November at Mike Bryant’s Friday night party, G.Pal brought a demo down for Plastic City A+R Rick Salzer. After some small discussions, both parties agreed that G. Pal should join the UCMG NY artist roster. Since then he released many singles for Plastic City and the critically acclaimed album ‘Life by G.Pal’.

George had to leave New York City after six years of studying at NYU, to join the Greek military force for two years. At that time Swift recordings was founded as a joint effort by him and UCMGNY as an outlet for his club-minded tribal and progressive productions. Since its inception, Swift was steadily gained momentum and created quite a buzz within the dance music community.

George after completed his military service his focus was on building Swift into the label he has envisioned all along. Swift records would no longer be a part of UCMGNY, as George decided to run the label by himself from his own country Greece. Swift was then globally distributed by Intergroove UK. Concerning his productions and remixes, George started to work at his studio full time again. Remixes and productions for labels such as Yoshitoshi, Shinichi, Bedrock, Ovum, Low Pressings & many more were also in George’s agenda. With sales steadily increasing and licenses coming in from Deep Dish and Steve Lawler for their Global Underground mix albums as well as DJ mixes from David Duriez, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Oscar G. for the Space club compilation, Tim Fielding for JDJ, Hardy Heller, Pascal Feos, and Steve Bug to name just a few, Swift was booming until 2005.

But for 2006 life had different plans for George! He got married and had a beautiful daughter. Family life was the new big thing for George. Hence Swift was put on hold for a while! In January 2013 a new era begins for Swift Records. George is now working hard to relaunch the label with a new sound adjusted to today’s hottest trends! Expect to listen to quality deep tech, techno and house sounds! The label will be distributed exclusively by Baseware (Beatport). A new radio show called “Swift Sessions” will also be launched in Frisky Radio by February 2013.

Pierre Deutschmann

Pierre Deutschmann

Pierre Deutschmann was born 1974 in Berlin. On the way to his style he passed early Hip Hop and Acid House and ended up with the sound he´s producing today. But there is hardly any „typical“ Deutschmann Sound: regarding the sound we can expect Techno, Minimal as well as Tech-Housetunes, even Break beats are no curiosity.

If we have a look at his work it is quite hard to imagine that all this is done by only one person - Deutschmann is definitely something we can call a musical workaholic! During his time as a producer he had the chance to work together with artists such as Robbie Rivera, Louis Vega, Justice, Rockers HiFi, Dj Pierre, Lützenkirchen and Paul van Dyk. 2008 Deutschmann founded his first label „k:lender“, 2009 the techno-edition „k:lender limited“ was following. After only a short while the next division of the k:lender music group was born: „XLR1507“- his youngest techno-label which was established in 2011 and is now growing fast!

When he is playing in the club Deutschmann has the ability to catch even the worst dancing grump in the last back corner his tool is a perfect working development in his set and therefore he doesn´t need all those well known club-hits but he can help himself out of his huge repertoire of own tracks.

Tronic / Evolution / We Play...

It is rare nowadays, in an increasingly cynical and competitive scene, for young and upcoming DJ's to get much recognition or opportunity to showcase their talents. In an industry where affiliation and endorsement from more established artists is key and where tastes and attention spans grow more fickle by the day it seems increasingly difficult for budding artists to break new ground. RENA has overcome these preconceptions and transcended a heavily male dominated arena by sticking to a strict work ethic and a healthy and imaginative approach to her music. A relative newcomer to DJing but with a lengthy and enthusiastic exposure to electronic tech house music, she brings a fresh, innovative and contagious brew of energy to her performances! Concentrating on gigging around her native Greece, she has steadily built herself a loyal fan base and developed her technical and programming skills. Having paid her dues and worked her way up from a consistent, dependable warm-up DJ she has effortlessly made the transition to peak time performer and crowd pleaser. Adding another bow to her resume, 2011 has seen her make her first forays into the studio, working on a few original productions. While the term "electronic house music" is an apt description of her musical directions, Rena\s sets can encompass everything from the deepest house to the funkiest, raunchiest techno-always blended and mixed with precision and soul! Beginning of 2012 Rena also entered Press & Play Company (Artists / Labels Management-Promotion-Distribution) as a Chief Operating Officer. Summer of 2013 seems to be quite determinant since her We Play… project, which was first presented through her monthly podcast show, takes shape as a Beach Party Project along with some of the most respectable and successful Djs of today’s dance music.

Roel Salemink

When you grow up in a small place like Gendringen/The Netherlands, there ís not much that will keep you busy unless you can find yourself an all-consuming hobby pretty fast. Roel Salemink chose to combat small town syndrome by developing his passion for music, spending his formative years obsessing over different styles of music.

By the early 90s he had become hooked on house, a habit he has never since managed to kick. After experimenting with various iterations of the genre he began to focus more on techhouse and techno, which to this day continues to be his greatest passion.

Professionally, his musical journey began when he started organising and promoting techno parties, booking headline acts like Marco Bailey, Secret Cinema, Peter Horrevorts, Takaaki Itoh, Christian Wunsch, Pacou, Recyver Dogs and Darko Esser to name a few. The success of these events gave Roel the confidence to develop his own event, the magnificent and memorable Magnifique.

This event saw him take to the stage alongside a whole host of famous names, including Secret Cinema, Bart Skils, Isis, Marco Bailey, Joey Beltram and many more. Keen to use his promotional skills across Europe and beyond, he has also hosted a stage at the famous German Festival Ruhr In Love which is attending by over 30.000 people.

It was not until 2008 that Roel Salemink seriously turned his attention to producing. It speaks volumes that his first ever release, techno tune Manalive, became an instant classic. Put out by the famous Bush Records, home to the likes of Carl Cox and Dave Clarke, the track spent a solid eight weeks in the number one spot on the Beatport chart. The track was featured on a number of compilations, including Carl Cox recorded live at Dance Valley, and Salemink's reputation was sealed. His tunes regularly receive big name support from the likes of Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Pig&Dan, Mauro Picotto, Tom Hades, Marco Bailey, Loco & Jam and a whole host more.

There are plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline for this exceptionally talented DJ, promoter and producer this year. This year Roel Salemink will do a lot of projects include his reworking of techno classic Love Story by Andrew McLauchlan. He will also release remixes he did for Mauro Picotto, Carl Cox, Dj Pierere and many more. Check out his online pages to see al of his forthcoming releases in 2013. This exciting foray into techno history, born partly from nostalgia and partly from a desire to keep the sound fresh and current, promises to be something truly special and certainly worth watching out for.

Roel Salemink already did some awesome gigs across Europe and there are more gigs planned for him already. Furthermore Salemink will release a lot of new tracks & remixes on some decent labels such as Intec, MB Elektronics, Phobiq, Driving Forces, Deeperfect, BlaBla, IAMT and many more.

Tom Hades

Rhythm Converted / 1605 / MB Elektronics

Tom Hades

Tom Hades started to discover and experiment with electronic music when listening to DAF, Kraftwerk, Front 242 ... At the age of 15 he bought his first keyboard, the famous Casio CZ-101 and transformed his game-computer, Amiga 500, into his first DAW. Quickly he got experienced with MIDI-integration and sampling functions, which gave him even more urge for buying/selling new material as addition to his current setup.

During the same period, his old school friend, RedHead, was co-producing with Marco Bailey. He got in contact with Marco too which led them in 2000 to their first co release. And this was the start of a big period of releases, included the anthem of "I Love Techno" in 2001. Have a look at the discography for the complete overview ... In the same year as I Love Techno Tom started to do live performances. He got more & more experienced and started to play all over the world.

His live performance was fully appreciated in countries like Spain, Colombia, Brazil, France, Poland, Sweden, Mexico, Japan, Austria, Italy, Norway, Ireland, ... and on many known festivals like Nature One, I Love Techno, City Parade, ... In the first period of 2002, Tom also produced his first solo release. In the next years he continued to produce tracks on his own as well as his co-production with Marco on respected labels like MB Elektronics, Drumcode, Bedrock, Tronic, Excentric Musik, 1605, Pornographic Recordings, Rhythm Convert(ed), Lupp, ... In 2004, they decided it was time to take the next step, start a label. And so Rhythm Convert was born. Initially, the purpose of the label was to give an opportunity to new talents to release their stuff. After a long break of releasing Tom restarted the label again in 2010. Many big artists already signed to the label so loads & loads to come in the future !!

Guys like Virgil Enzinger, Submerge, Alan Fitzpatrick, The Advent & Industrialyzer, Brian Sanhaji as well as Axel Karakasis, Spiros Kaloumenos, Veztax, ... did a very good job to show the people what is was all about. End 2004, Marco & Tom released their full album, Rude Boy, caused a stir all over the world. The best proof was their live performance during Nature One where they literally "blew the place to kingdom come"! In the year 2009 E=mc2 was released as a second album on MB Elektronics.

Recognized world widely by the big players in the scene the album surely proofed the quality of the release.

His current releases on labels like MB Elektronics, Rhythm Convert(ed), Bedrock and Drumcode are oriented in the same way his musical taste changes: intelligenter way of drum programming with flavors of techno, minimal and tekhouse. Nowadays, Tom can be booked as a dj or a live-set performance. You can expect dj-sets with dedication and filled with energy, as known from his live-sets, to give his fans the pleasure of clubbing !

In the means of productions, future releases will certainly be done, so keep your eyes open on some new productions, because Tom will certainly surprise lots of people!!!
